I work in commercial food equipment marketing, married (very happily) with one Sophie
My name is Eric, and this blog is an outlet for me to share the challenges of a true foodie living in Dayton, Ohio. For some the Midwest is a culinary wasteland, or fly-over country for those from the coasts. But there are some nooks and crevices where great meals can be found. Farms, stands, markets, ethnic restaurants, and great meals from courageous home cooks can be found all over the region. In addition, I travel a lot and hope to communicate some of the finds as well.
I work in marketing for the Hobart Corporation, the most famous foodservice equipment brand. My wife, Stephanie and I have one child, who is a joy and a not-so-adventuresome eater. Stephanie and I met at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT. We have both spent time in kitchens, managed restaurants and catering companies and worked in other corners of the food business. I have never held a job not related to food (come to think of it, I worked as a landscaper for a day when I was 17). I love the sights, smells, tastes and people of the food and restaurant world. That's why I'm here.
